A Hong Kong-bound Qatar Airways flight was diverted to Ahmedabad on Tuesday after developing a technical issue mid-air, officials said.
Flight QR816, which departed from Doha’s Hamad International Airport at around 9 a.m., was en route to Hong Kong when the problem arose. As a precaution, the aircraft was rerouted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), where it landed safely at approximately 2:40 p.m., according to airport authorities.
“Due to some technical issues mid-air, the Doha–Hong Kong flight of Qatar Airways was diverted to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure. It landed safely around 2:40 p.m.,” an airport official confirmed.
The airline said a detailed inspection of the aircraft would be carried out before the flight is cleared to continue its journey. According to Qatar Airways’ website, the aircraft is scheduled to depart for Hong Kong from Terminal 2 of SVPIA at 5:30 p.m.
No injuries or safety concerns were reported among passengers or crew.
