Egypt will roll out the Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system across all airports starting January 1, 2026, extending the digital customs platform already in place at seaports, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk announced.
The move marks a new phase in Egypt’s trade facilitation strategy designed to accelerate cargo clearance, strengthen governance, and boost economic competitiveness.
The ACI platform, first piloted in 2022, will continue in trial mode through December to give investors time to adjust, Kouchouk said. Close coordination is underway with Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib to ensure smooth implementation while reducing burdens on importers and exporters.
Kouchouk noted strong positive feedback during the pilot, with stakeholders reporting shorter clearance times and lower costs. The ACI system at seaports has already issued 2.5 million customs release certificates, cutting document authentication costs abroad and preventing shipment rejection due to non-compliance with specifications.
The airport rollout aims to encourage pre-arrival processing, allowing traders to complete customs steps before goods land in Egypt. Authorities expect the shift to streamline procedures, reduce import and export costs, and enhance supply chain reliability.
The ACI program is integrated with Egypt’s Nafeza digital platform and its e-invoicing system, supporting efforts to secure foreign currency, block goods of unknown origin, and ensure higher-quality imports.
